Pi Network Issues Urgent Mainnet Node Upgrade Mandate with February 15 Deadline
Pi Network has announced a critical upgrade to its Mainnet node system, setting a firm deadline of February 15 for operators to complete the first phase. Nodes that fail to comply risk being disconnected from the network, highlighting the urgency of this mandatory update.
The Core Team emphasizes the pivotal role of nodes as the "fourth role" in Pi's ecosystem, alongside miners, contributors, and ambassadors. These nodes are responsible for validating transactions and enhancing decentralization, utilizing the Stellar Consensus Protocol (SCP) rather than traditional proof-of-work mechanisms.
With over 16 million users already migrated to Mainnet, this upgrade aims to streamline node operations through a user-friendly desktop application, making participation more accessible. The update includes enhancements to both the Node software and the desktop Pi App interface, significantly lowering technical barriers to encourage broader network adoption and resilience.
